GA1: DISEC

Agenda Item: Preventing the usage of weapons of mass destruction.

The use and proliferation of weapons of mass destruction remain among the most serious global challenges directly threatening international peace and security. The development and deployment of nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons have devastating and often irreversible humanitarian consequences for civilian populations.
The United Nations Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC) aims to prevent the use of weapons of mass destruction, curb their proliferation, and strengthen global disarmament efforts by promoting the effective implementation of international treaties and agreements.

On the first day, delegates will discuss the issues outlined above within the framework of their respective countries’ policies.
On the second day, participants will continue examining these issues through the lens of national positions, work toward identifying common ground, and collaborate on drafting a comprehensive resolution.
